I felt motivated to participate in the rally in Santa Ana today protesting the threat of the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade. It is tragic that after 49 years we still have to organize to defend a woman’s right to control her own body. I am encouraged by the thousands that turned out to make their voices heard. As a man, I support a woman’s right to choose.
As I candidate for the Board of Equalization, your property tax board, I stretch my imagination to see how abortion rights can be supported by our property tax system. I know that if they can take away the right to abortion many other rights are at risk. It was not long ago that same sex marriages were not recognized. Homeowners had to go through an arduous civil union process to share the same property ownership rights as other couples. As your member on the Board of Equalization I will fight to preserve all of your rights and an inclusive system that respects the dignity of all Californians.
